Areas of focus

Where I can help

My practice centres on supporting children and youths through the challenges that shape their early lives — with evidence-based approaches tailored to their developmental stage.

🌿

Trauma in Children & Youths

Using Master Trainer–level Trauma Systems Therapy and advanced Trauma-Focused CBT, I create safe spaces for young clients to process difficult experiences and rebuild a sense of security. Preschool-adapted protocols are available for the youngest clients.

🌸

Anxiety

Anxiety in young people can manifest in many ways — school refusal, social fears, separation anxiety, and more. I offer evidence-based therapy drawing on cognitive behavioural and schema-informed approaches to help children and families understand and manage anxiety.

🌟

ADHD & ASD

With a Diploma in Special Education and deep experience working with neurodiverse children, I support families navigating ADHD and ASD — from assessment and psychoeducation to practical strategies that help children thrive at home and in school.

About

A psychologist who believes in you

"Therapy is a temporary bridge — the goal is always for you to walk confidently on your own."

Wan Xin brings over 15 years of clinical experience working with children, adolescents, and families in Singapore. Her journey began in special needs services, before extending into community-based therapeutic work — supporting young people through some of life's most challenging moments with steadiness, warmth, and deep expertise.

At the heart of her practice is an attachment-focused, trauma-informed model — the belief that every child's healing is deeply connected to the health of their family relationships. Sessions are warm, play-based where appropriate, and always tailored to the individual needs of each young client.

Wan Xin's work extends well beyond the therapy room. She serves as Centre Director for two MindChamps Early Intervention Centres, shaping the care and developmental journeys of young children with special needs. She is a trusted clinical supervisor to the MSF Fostering Team, supporting the professionals who walk alongside some of Singapore's most vulnerable children and families. She also conducts custody evaluation reports for the Singapore Courts — bringing a rigorous, child-centred lens to some of the most consequential decisions in a child's life.

In academia, Wan Xin lectures part-time in the psychology programme at SUSS (Singapore University of Social Sciences) and contributes to courses at the Social Service Institute. As an SRP Approved Clinical Supervisor, she actively mentors students, social workers, counsellors, and fellow psychologists in their professional development.

A mother of two young children herself, Wan Xin understands deeply — not just professionally, but personally — what it means to love a child fiercely and want the very best for them. That lived experience quietly informs everything she does.

How I work

Principles that guide every session

01

Trauma-Informed Care

All therapeutic work is grounded in an understanding of how adverse experiences shape a child's development. I adapt pace, language, and methods to each child's window of tolerance.

02

Attachment-Focused

Secure relationships are the foundation of healthy development. I work with both children and their caregivers to strengthen family bonds that support lasting recovery.

03

Play-Based Engagement

For younger clients, play is the natural language. I use play-based techniques to build rapport and help children express and process what words alone cannot reach.

04

Family as Partner

Parents and caregivers are key allies. I provide psychoeducation, involve families meaningfully in the process, and equip them with practical tools to continue progress at home.
